A “daytime fireball” streaked across NJ Tuesday: Joe Martucci’s 7/16/2024 evening weather forecast

The American Meteor Society website shows more than a dozen unconfirmed fireball reports across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Turns out, these were 29 miles above the Statue of Liberty before it disintegrated.

It was all part of a very busy weather day at News 12 New Jersey. Triple digit heat, severe weather, a wildfire and this fireball made it important to have a station scientist on hand.
