The 2 ways NJ’s heat may be record breaking (it’s not what you think of)

FIRST HEAT ALERT DAY OF 2026

Sponsor: Broadley’s Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning

⚠️The peak of the heat will be Tuesday! Record heat is possible for ACY Airport (96F) and Freehold (94F), among other places.

🥶A *big* ol’ sea breeze will kick in at the beaches. This is where you’ll want to go! Highs will be in the 70s there today. You’re safe from the heat here.

🌊 Avoid the ocean! It’s cold (mid-50s, I ain’t going in that) and there are no lifeguards yet.

🚨A NOAA heat advisory is in effect for the orange areas today. Cape May-Atlantic-Cumberland-Salem are *not* in it. It’s not because it’s cooler there, but because they have a higher threshold to hit the heat advisory.

🚨The heat risk will be MAJOR issue for inland Monmouth-Ocean counties. The NOAA Heat Risk takes into account heat, humidity and time of year. We’re just not used to mid-90s in Mid-May, even without the humidity.

😃Stay in the air conditioning, drink lots of water and avoid exercise outside from 10AM-4PM if you’re away from the beaches.
